STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION UNITS OF MINISTRIES TO BE STRENGTHENED TO BOOST INFORMATION DELIVERY EFFORTS - ANNUAR 

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) -- All strategic communication units in the ministries will be strengthened to further intensify information delivery so that the people know the efforts being carried out by the government, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said this was decided with an additional allocation from the norm, to strengthen efforts of delivering information and data to media practitioners as well as Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family).

He said efforts to strengthen the delivery of information in each ministry were necessary so that the people would not fall for partially true information on social media because if the government did not provide true information, then false details might be used.

“Whatever is discussed, decided, we will share with the people. I will share twice a week any information received and actions taken by the government so that the people know. So, we must change the way we work by giving more information to the people, we need to be transparent in conveying data, information, developments.

“Not just that, I have also discussed with all secretaries-general of the ministries. Give cooperation to the media, editors and all parties wishing to get information without violating the Officials Secrets Act (OSA),” he said after RTM’s Bicara Naratif programme here tonight. 

On the issue of cooking oil supply in the country, Annuar, who is also chairman of the Special Task Force on Jihad Against Inflation, stressed that the responsible parties should not try to hide, instead cooperate with the efforts undertaken by the government.

“We emphasise that if they do not give their cooperation and I find that smuggling is still happening, we will look for options to change the whole system… they will lose business. So, if you want to continue the business, do it right. Don’t misuse the people’s funds that we give but the goods do not reach them  

“We want them to do business in the right manner. We are willing to give various facilities, including giving them quotas because we want them to run their businesses. But they cannot manipulate the system until it becomes weak and unsuccessful,” he said.
