PUTRAJAYA, July 13 (Bernama) — The Perdana Fellows and the Corporate Fellows programmes run by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) have become government benchmarks for leadership training of youths, said its minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
He said the programmes were not only symbolic to KBS but also to all government agencies which opened their doors to youths to contribute their energy and ideas for the country.
"The government through KBS always raises the dignity of the youth and injects a sense of courage so that this group can be actively involved in building the nation," he said when addressing the 2022 Perdana Fellows and Corporate Fellows presentation ceremony here today.
A total of 82 Perdana Fellows and 28 Corporate Fellows are participating in this year's programme for placements in various participating ministries and companies including Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd and CIMB Bank Bhd. They will be placed with their respective mentors starting today until Dec 31, 2022.
Perdana Fellows participants will work on a rotating basis in a ministry or agency while Corporate Fellows participants will be exposed directly to the leadership and management of the companies, including operations management.
Ahmad Faizal said overall, the programme had succeeded in bringing out the potential and characteristics of leadership as desired by the government.
Meanwhile, Dhavina Sella Perumal, 25, who is placed at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) is excited to have been selected after going through a difficult selection process.
“It's like a dream come true and all the sacrifices were worth it. I hope to gain as much experience as possible as I am passionate about community activities in line with the tasks of the ministry I have been attached to,” said the Public Administration graduate from LimKokWing University.
Meanwhile, Chan Ze Ee, 22, who is placed at the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) said he wanted to gain experience not only to help the management of the ministry but also to serve the people and the country.
"As a youth, I actually have a lot of ideas to give back to the community. I want to use the knowledge I have to give back whatever I have learned and try to integrate it into K-KOMM.
"In this position, I'm looking forward to serving the people and providing solutions to problems," said the Bachelor of Biohealth Science student from the Universiti Malaya.
