USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO MARKET SEASONAL FRUITS, FARMERS TOLD

KANGAR -- Seasonal fruit farmers need to use social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as a new medium to expand the market for their agricultural products.

Perlis Agriculture and Agro-Based Committee chairman Nurulhisham Yaakob said agricultural entrepreneurs cannot rely entirely on traditional sales methods but must be brave enough to use social media to expand their market.

He said this after closing a course at the Perlis Forestry Department hall in Sungai Batu Pahat here today.

Nurulhisham added that the Perlis Agriculture Department will produce new clones of durian kampung.

"I don't want outsiders to think durians from Perlis are of poor quality, instead we want it to be comparable to durians in other states," he said.
