BANDAR PENAWAR, June 2 (Bernama) -- The Johor Tenggara Development Authority (KEJORA) has spent RM1.5 billion to develop its region over a 50-year period since its establishment in 1972.
Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said KEJORA, an agency under the ministry, had achieved many commendable successes.
"In terms of infrastructure from before until now in KEJORA region involving rural roads, water supply and electricity supply, it can be said we have achieved 100 per cent,” he told reporters after launching the golden jubilee celebration of KEJORA at Dataran Tanjung Balau here today.
Also present were KEJORA general manager Datuk Mohd Rusdi Darus and Johor Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Datuk Zahari Sarip.
Mahdzir said KEJORA had also built 23,000 houses and established six new townships.
Apart from this, KEJORA has also produced 1,500 entrepreneurs in various business sectors in the same period.
