SELANGOR TO CONTINUE INTERVENTION PROG TO ENSURE ADEQUATE CHICKEN SUPPLY

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Selangor government will continue the Ehsan Intervention Programme from June 1 until Hari Raya Aidiladha to ensure continuous access to chicken supplies for the public.

State Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-Industry Committee chairman Izham Hashim said the initiative was a short-term solution to address the shortage of chicken supply in the state.

The initiative was implemented with the cooperation of the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA) and the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) through 67 sales outlets statewide, which would supply 4,000 to 10,000 fresh chickens a day.

Speaking to reporters after launching the Selangor Agricultural Innovation Day and Selangor Agro Green 2022 today, Izham said the state government has also entered into an agreement with the Negeri Sembilan government to start a corn cultivation project for chicken feed.

“We also have an early agreement with a company under University Kebangsaan Malaysia involving alternative animal feed production for cows, goats, and chickens. "The production cost is half of the current animal feed cost and is high in quality,” he added.
