Johor to outline six main thrusts to spearhead developed state mission - MB

PASIR GUDANG, May 24 (Bernama) -- The Johor government will outline six strategic thrusts, including a holistic economy, to spearhead the state's mission of becoming a developed state, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said. 

In addition to looking at the economic aspects of the endemic phase, he said the thrusts include social safety nets, good government administration, basic necessities and facilities as well as cleanliness and security. 

He said all these will be fine-tuned at a two-day retreat involving the state executive council beginning May 26.

“I aspire for Johor to be a developed state, not only in terms of economy or infrastructure alone but in terms of mentality, identity, knowledge and ethics the Bangsa Johor way. 

“That’s a great vision and that is what I am trying to bring to Johor, a developed state in a holistic manner,” he said in his speech at an Aidilfitri event organised by the Pasir Gudang UMNO division here yesterday. 

Also present was UMNO vice-president and former Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also Pasir Gudang UMNO division chief. 

Onn Hafiz said the state government will also look into how to turn Johor into an investor-friendly state to attract more foreign direct investments. 

The Machap assemblyman said the state government will also give emphasis on youth issues, taking into account they represent over 50 percent of the 3.6 million state population.
