Maxis collaborates with OKU Sentral to launch Riang Raya campaign

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- Maxis Berhad, in collaboration with non-governmental organisation OKU Sentral, today launched the “Riang Raya Maxis” campaign to bring Persons with Disabilities (PwD) closer to digital technology.

The campaign will feature performances by PwD buskers in the virtual cube placed at Nu Sentral here from today until April 23 and Kota Bharu Mall, Kelantan from April 27 to 29.

Maxis Head of Brand and Marketing Tai Kam Leong said digital technology enables people to grow during the pandemic, especially in terms of expanding their source of income and connecting and helping each other.

“Malaysians can also share sustenance with others by scanning the QR code on the virtual cube to donate directly to OKU Sentral,” he told a press conference at Menara Maxis here today.

Also present was OKU Sentral president Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi.

Earlier, Tai launched a film titled “Last Kopek” which highlights the perseverance of PwD musicians in facing challenges while making full use of their abilities.

Meanwhile, Ras Adiba said she felt emotional watching the short film but was happy to see PwD given the opportunity to showcase their talent.

“I’m actually excited after watching the Maxis campaign because the public will get to see PwD acting and I hope the people will appreciate their talents.

“There are several scenes in the film which highlight the difficulties faced by us such as sidewalks that are not suitable for wheelchairs and the importance of elevators which is hoped to create an awareness among the public,” she said.
