KOTA BHARU, April 21 (Bernama) - Kelantan FC's prolific striker Nurshamil Abdul Ghani, who was the local top scorer in the Premier League in 2021, is "hungry” to defend the title this season.
The 27-year-old is confident of achieving that goal now that he has scored three goals and only needs six or more after netting nine last season to secure the title.
"I will give my best performance in every game to make sure I can score goals and I definitely want to score more than nine goals as I did last season.
"So far, after five matches, I have been able to score three goals and it is a good motivation and encouragement for me to defend the award won last season and bring this team to join the Super League next season," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
In December last year, at the 2021 National Football Awards (ABK21), which was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nurshamil was crowned the Premier League’s Local Top Scorer after scoring nine goals.
Apart from being determined to defend the title, the Melaka-born player also desires to wear the national jersey if given the opportunity.
"Since I took up football, my dream is to wear the national jersey but in order to do that, I have to work harder and harder because there is too much competition from other players as well," he said.
