JAKARTA, April 18 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s trade surplus in March widened to US$4.53 billion (US$1=RM4.23) from US$3.83 billion in February.

Statistics Indonesia head Margo Yuwono said this was due to the increase in commodity export prices amid disruptions in Ukrainian and Russian commodity exports.

Speaking at a briefing, he said exports rose 29 per cent to US$26.5 billion in March compared to February as oil and gas exports jumped, particularly mineral fuels.

In March, imports of Southeast Asia’s largest economy rose 32 per cent to US$21.97 billion compared to February with a significant increase in electrical machinery and equipment imports.
