CYCLE & CARRIAGE BINTANG BHD (C&C) has appointed Thomas Tok Chek Kuan as its new chief executive officer.

In a statement today, C&C said Tok succeeds Wilfrid Foo Tsu-Jin who takes on the role of C&C chairman and managing director of C&C Singapore.

Prior to joining C&C, Tok held various positions across different functions in C&C Singapore for more than 10 years, and spent another four years in China managing dealership operations.

“His tenure in Zung Fu (China), a major dealer group for Mercedes-Benz in China, included a stint in managing dealerships in Guangdong, China. Tok also graduated from the University of London,” it said.

BINTAI KINDEN CORP BHD’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Kejuruteraan Bintai Kindenko Sdn Bhd (KBK) has secured a mechanical and electrical engineering (M&E) contract from KLCC Urusharta Sdn Bhd (KLCCH) for RM2.615 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Bintai Kinden said on March 30, 2022, KBK had accepted a letter of award from KLCCH, appointing it to be the contractor to undertake a transformer replacement at Tower 2 of the Petronas Twin Towers.

The scope of work includes supplying and replacing the existing 33/11 kilovolt (kV) transformer with a new transformer, including modification of civil works of the existing transformer room, and relocation of M&E work along the route to deliver the new transformer.

“The contract will contribute positively to the revenue and earnings of the company for the financial year ending March 31, 2023, and the contract is estimated to be completed by April 15, 2023,” Bintai Kinden said.

LAZADA Malaysia and the Women Development Department from the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development have joined hands to empower women entrepreneurs in the digital economy.

In a statement today, Lazada said through LAZEMPOWER, women entrepreneurs can leverage the e-commerce industry’s exponential growth and expand their businesses online.

“The main goal of LAZEMPOWER is to increase digital adoption among marginalised women by nurturing their interest in either starting or growing their businesses on an e-commerce platform such as Lazada,” it said.

HONG SENG CONSOLIDATED BHD’a wholly-owned subsidiary, HS Bio Sdn Bhd (HS Bio) has entered into a collaboration agreement with Mediven Innovation Ventures Sdn Bhd to collaborate in the healthcare sector. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said pursuant to the collaboration, the parties will jointly explore opportunities and markets for their respective products and may jointly pursue tenders and bids for projects.

Hong Seng executive director and HS Bio director Christopher Chan said the collaboration represents a new opportunity for HS Bio to expand into the manufacturing of medical devices.

“With this, HS Bio will also be able to expand its range of capabilities to become the most comprehensive player in the Malaysian private healthcare sector with its end-to-end medical supply chain management solutions,” he said in a statement.

TDM BHD’s unit, Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd (KMI) has entered into a heads of agreement with Mutiara Premier Sdn Bhd (MPSB) to build and lease a specialist hospital building in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the proposed project is aimed to complete the expansion of KMI’s East Coast chain of hospitals that will further enhance KMI’s brand visibility.

“Under the proposed project, MPSB shall fund the development of the proposed project which is indicative to be at the gross development costs (GDC) of RM129.36 million for the Phase 1 development,” TDM said.

The construction is expected to be completed within 30 months from the date on which the last of the condition precedent is fulfilled.
