KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- The first edition of the Youth Career Inspiration Symposium 2022 (YCS’22) organised today is expected to increase the awareness and understanding of government agencies involved in providing training for youths to come up with high-impact programmes.

The Institute of Leadership Excellence and Development (i-LEAD), in a statement, said the symposium aims to provide a platform for experts to share findings to assist the government’s efforts in holding programmes to overcome unemployment issues, especially among youths and graduates.

It also aims to increase the awareness of the government and stakeholders in creating programmes on graduate marketability which can drive economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 era.

According to i-LEAD, the symposium could also encourage the government to formulate new programmes that will have an immediate impact on reducing the unemployment rate among youths due to the pandemic-induced slowdown.

It is also to strengthen strategic partnerships with government agencies, universities and industry to explore new employment opportunities, it said.

To meet the objectives and ensure the effectiveness of YCS’22, the panellists consisted of experts from research institutes and government agencies, ministry officials, public and private university lecturers, as well as officers from public and private skills training institutions.

“The experts’ findings and feedback of this symposium will be shared with policy-makers and stakeholders involved to determine the direction of job provision among future graduates,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, exhibitions from four government agencies namely the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii); SOCSO-My Future Job; Tekun Nasional and the i-LEAD Kenegaraan Cluster as well as eight private companies including Al Fateh Dynamic Agency; Maher Saham; Nasi Lemak Saleh and Agro Bank Berhad also enlivened the symposium.

The YCS’22 opening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker
