KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 -- More than one million individuals in Malaysia and ASEAN have benefited from about 7,000 community projects organised by the Student Volunteers Foundation (YSS) since its establishment 10 years ago.

Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, who is also a YSS patron, said that to date, YSS had implemented 48 missions with 1,481 volunteer leaders emerging from ASEAN countries and China.

“The goal of YSS establishment is to boost the spirit of volunteerism and solidarity among students, and promote world peace,” she said.

She said this when officiating YSS’ 10th anniversary dinner here, tonight.

YSS was launched by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) on March 21, 2012, at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Selangor.

Among activities lined up in conjunction with its 10th anniversary are the KPT-YSS Keluarga Malaysia Run to raise RM1 million; Student Volunteer Missions in Sabah, Sarawak, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia; and the organisation of the 2023 International Forum for Volunteering in Development.
