Performance of Kedah Development Plan 2035 commendable - Sanusi

ALOR SETAR, March 21 (Bernama) -- The performance of the Kedah Development Plan 2035 over the last one year is commendable although it was just launched in 2020, said Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

He said some of the initiatives contained in the plan were on a good foundation even though the country and the world are still facing the threats of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Several targets that were set such as the total annual investment inflow of RM10 billion was successfully achieved in the first year of implementation after RM57.1 billion in investments were recorded from January to September last year.

“Efforts to maintain the investment inflow will be continued and the RM10 billion target will continue to be the benchmark for future years,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the State Legislative Assembly here, today.

He said this in response to a question from Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir (Pejuang-Jitra) who wanted to know on the progress of the plan and whether its achievements were in line with the set timelines.

Muhammad Sanusi said the plan was officially launched on Sept 1, 2020 and its implementation began last year with the mission to make Kedah a high-income state.

The plan included three themes, namely the economy, people and environment which are anchored on six main thrusts, 25 strategies, 36 initiatives, and 24 targets with set timelines for achievements over its 15-year implementation period till 2035.

“Its overall performance can only be seen more clearly during the mid-term review for Phase One, which is in the middle of next year,” he said.

The performance of the plan would be monitored and improved on so that each initiative would be realistic and the set targets could bring an impact not only for the state government but also the people, he added.
