KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- M3 League side Budak Rumah Murah (BRM) FC were clearly no match for Malaysian League giants Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) as the Southern Tigers beat the amateur squad 10-0 in the first round of the 2022 FA Cup campaign at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, tonight.
The rain did not disrupt JDT's plans as they took just two minutes to open the scoring through a backheel by Argentine striker Fernando Martin Forestieri following a cross from the right by winger Muhammad Safawi Rasid.
JDT doubled their lead five minutes later through Safiq Rahim, while Muhammad Safawi's fine free-kick in the 18th minute made it 3-0 before Forestieri scored his second in the 25th minute and completed a hat-trick through the penalty spot in the 42nd minute to give his side a 5-0 lead in the first half.
The home side showed no signs of slowing down in the second half as import defender Mauricio Dos Santos scored the sixth goal in the 55th minute, and matters did not improve for the visitors as they were reduced to 10 men after defender Mohamad Haiqal Afendi picked up a second yellow card for fouling JDT substitute Moussa Sidibe in the penalty box.
Moussa then calmly converted the penalty kick for JDT’s seventh goal in the 69th minute, followed by the eighth one by Daryl Sham K.K. George in the 81st minute, ninth by Mohamadou Sumareh (88th minute) and the 10th by Muhammad Daniel Amier Norhisham in injury time.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Cup 2021 champions Kuala Lumpur City FC also enjoyed an 8-0 goal-fest against Langkawi FC at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras.
Striker Muhammad Fakrul Aiman Sidid scored a brace in the 13th and 29th minutes while J. Partiban put the ball in the net in the 15th minute, followed by goals from Zhafri Yahya (45'), Giancarlo Gallifuoco (72'), Muhammad Hadin Azman ( 75'), Paolo Josue (86') and Kevin Koubemba (89').
In the action at the Sarawak State Stadium in Petra Jaya, import striker Uche Agba scored in the 51st 72nd (penalty) minutes to help Sarawak United FC beat Ultimate FC, 7-0.
The other five goals came from Boris Kok (9’), Nur Shamie Iszuan (58’), Ahmad Khairil Anuar (73'), Zharmein Ashraf (81') and Francis Kone (81').
Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya City FC came back from behind to book a slot into the second round after beating Premier League side Kelantan FC 2-1 at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium.
Striker Fadel Antar Mohammad stunned the hosts with the opening goal in the 18th minute, but PJ City took only six minutes to equalise through Darren Lok, before substitute P. Rajes emerged the hero for P. Maniam's squad when his header was on target in the 79th minute to confirm their slot in the next round.
