MELAKA, March 11 -- The Melaka government formed by Barisan Nasional (BN) after winning the state election last November has succeeded in implementing 58 initiatives contained in its 100-Day Pledge.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said it also proved that the pledge themed ‘Stability for Prosperity’ was indeed 100 per cent achievable.
“The 100 per cent achievement of the 100-Day Pledge will involve all the five thrusts. Some of the initiatives have and are being implemented, and some have been approved in principle for implementation by the implementing agencies.
“The success of the state government in implementing these initiatives proved that we are serious and committed to fulfilling our 100-Day Pledge that we made to the people.”
He said this to reporters after the 100-Day Achievement of Melaka State Government and the launch of Melakaku Maju Jaya Strategic Plan 2035: Version 2 at Auditorium Seri Negeri here today.
Also present were State Investment, Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman cum Melaka UMNO chief Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and State Secretary Datuk Zaidi Johari.
The five thrusts contained in the pledge were Political Stability; New Economic Leap; Governance Efficiency; United Society; and Sustainable Development and Sharing of Prosperity.
Among the initiatives successfully implemented were the annual allocation of RM100,000 for opposition assemblymen, increasing the number of retail spaces with complete infrastructure, giving a cost of living incentive to fishermen, farmers and breeders.
Also, expanding the Melaka Digital initiative, empowering clean and transparent governance, creating youth activity centres, preserving and protecting Orang Asli settlement and wandering areas, and providing free bus service for those in rural areas.
In the state election on Nov 20 last year, BN secured a two-thirds majority with 21 seats against Pakatan Harapan (five) and Perikatan Nasional (two) to form the new state government.
