KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 -- Former Selangor state player H. Dharshana has been given a chance to revive her badminton career, as a player-cum-coach with Qatar-based New Vision Badminton Sport (NVBS).
The Malaysian Indian Badminton Association (MIBA) is sending her to Qatar, just four months after it did the same for V. Rooben Raj, 22.
“Dharshana will leave for Qatar on Monday to join NVBS and (she) described the lifeline from MIBA as a shot in the arm for her badminton career,” it said in a statement today.
Dharshana was deemed not good enough to warrant a place in the national back-up squad back in 2018.
MIBA president Datuk V. Radhakrishnan said career building was their goal of sending Darshana to Qatar
Dharshana said she is prepared to walk the extra mile for Malaysia and would make full use of the opportunity given her.
"It's a huge boost for me to take my badminton to a higher level,” she added.
"I sincerely thank Datuk Radha and MIBA for making it happen. It's a new beginning for me, and I am confident of achieving my goals in badminton apart from my career," she added.
Dharshana won the team gold with Selangor at the Malaysia Games 2018 in Perak and represented Rawang BC in the Purple League from 2018 to 2021.
