KANGAR, Jan 31 - Azmizi Azmi, 35, nicknamed 'Tibo', has been appointed as the captain of Perlis United FC who be playing in the Malaysian League Division 3 (M3), which kicks off on Feb 12.
PUFC coach Azizul Abidin said he chose Azmizi because he was confident in the ability of the Kuala Perlis native to lead his teammates.
"From my assessment, Azmizi has a high level of leadership, it was proven during our friendly match with Bukit Tambun FC (BTFC) on Jan 22 when Perlis United drew 2-2 in the match played at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium, Kangar," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
For the record, the defender has previously played for Kedah, Felda United, Perak and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS FC).
Azizul, who is fondly caled Cikgu Jon, said he has also selected the line-up of key players for this season and player changes would be made according to the needs of each match.
Perlis United open their M3 campaign against Terengganu club Real Chukai FC at the Mak Chili Stadium, Kemaman, Terengganu on Feb 12.
