'Suara Serumpun' raises Malaysia-Indonesia news sharing ties to new level

26/01/2022 06:05 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 -- The 'Suara Serumpun' talk show, jointly broadcast by Bernama Radio and Antara Digital Media in Indonesia, is expected to increase the sharing of news and information, thus further strengthening Malaysia-Indonesia relations in the economic, political and cultural fields.

Head of Bernama Radio Azlan Idris said the programme which went on air today, was the result of the memorandum of understanding signed in November last year between ANTARA (Indonesia state news agency) and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).

He said the collaboration allowed Bernama Radio listeners to gain information on news happening in Indonesia, in addition to information on issues in the Klang Valley and Malaysia.

"In fact, it opens up opportunities for Bernama clients, as ANTARA has more than 170 digital platforms throughout Indonesia that indirectly give a return on investment to our clients to display advertisements in Indonesia and vice versa," he told Bernama after hosting the programme today.

ANTARA Chief Executive Officer Darmadi when interviewed during the programme said ‘Suara Serumpun’ was a platform to rebuke fake news, especially those circulating on social media that could lead to disputes among Indonesian and Malaysian netizens.

He said the programme could explain the real situation, provide the understanding and convince people from both countries to live in mutual respect, adding that it was a platform to prevent misinformation that would lead to disunity.

"I am confident that with this partnership, the people will get more accurate information from a clear source," he said.

The 'Suara Serumpun' programme is broadcast live every Wednesday, at 12.30 pm on Bernama Radio and Bernama Radio Facebook.
