LTdL 2022: MNCF to meet KBS Wednesday (Jan 26)

25/01/2022 06:54 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25  -- The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) will hold a meeting with the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) tomorrow to discuss issues relating to the hosting of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2022.

MNCF president Datuk Abu Samah Abd Wahab said they received a call from the ministry yesterday for a meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

However, Abu Samah declined to comment further on the topics to be discussed at the meeting.

"For now, I can't comment… have to wait until after the meeting tomorrow,” he said when contacted today.

On Sunday (Jan 23), the MNCF had asked the KBS to take urgent action to resolve the problems pertaining to the organisation of LTdL 2022, besides claiming that the company given the contract to organise the Tour had tried to change the race dates without the knowledge of national governing body.

However, the KBS confirmed yesterday that Human Voyage Sdn Bhd, the organisers of LTdL 2022, had sent an official request for the race to be postponed from March 3-10 to June 18-26.

The KBS then scheduled the LTdL 2022 Implementation Committee Meeting on Jan 27 to discuss the matter together with MNCF and Human Voyage.
