Two Labuan players called up to join National U-23, Sabah U-21 training camps

LABUAN, Jan 24 --Two Labuan footballers have been called up to join the National Under-23 (-23)  and Sabah U-21 teams training camps.

The duo are Nureizkhan Isa, 22, from Kg Sg Lada and Mohd Syahmi Idris, 21, from Kg Sg Buton. 

Nureizkhan, a former SMK Mutiara student, will be joining the centralised training in preparation for the U-23 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) 2022 tournament in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, scheduled to be held from Deb 14-26.

Mohd Syahmi, who plays in centre-back position, has been named among the 30 players for the Sabah Football Club U-21 team for the 2022 season. 

Labuan Football Association president Sophian Said said the selection of the two Labuan players was a recognition of local talents.

He said Nureizkhan was a Sabah U-21 squad player and is currently on contract with the Sabah FC U-23 team.

“Nureizkhan has signed contract with Sabah FC last year to play alongside with the state senior players, we hope this will be an exemplary to young players in Labuan,” he said to Bernama today.

Mohd Syahmi was one of three Labuan players nominated for the selection trials along with more than 50 players from across Sabah in preparation for the President's Cup which is for U-21 players and is slated to be held from Feb 24 till July 14.
