PHNOM PENH, Jan 7 -- Cambodia will host the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMMR) on Jan 18 and 19 in the northern city of Siem Reap, Vietnam news agency reported, quoting reports by the Khmer Times newspaper.
The event is the first important meeting hosted by Cambodia in 2022 as the country is assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship.
At the meeting, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will share their views on resolutions and challenges facing ASEAN this year, it said.
Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn told a recent workshop on Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022 hosted by the Yusof Ishak Institute that the retreat will be the first major ministerial meeting to deliberate the realisation of decisions and plans agreed on last year, and a chance to discuss new initiatives that will further advance the building of the ASEAN Community.
