KUANTAN, Dec 26 -- A teacher and her three sisters took the initiative to distribute 'happy kits' to the children at flood relief centres to provide comfort and help reduce their stress levels.

Nadiah Shafiqah Abdul Rahim, 33, said she came out with the idea after seeing several children sitting quietly and doing nothing at a flood relief centre when accompanying her family member to send clothing aid to the victims at the centre here on Monday.

"After I left, I kept thinking about the children…many have helped in terms of food and clothing, but what about the children's items? Then I asked my sisters about it and we decided to collect money to prepare for the happy kits.

"The next day we were able to complete 100 happy kits filled with items like small toys, sweets, biscuits, books and coloured pencils which were directly distributed to the relief centres here," she told Bernama here today.

Nadiah Shafiqah said when they shared the photos of the happy kit on their Instagram Story, many relatives and friends came forward to help.

"Some volunteers came to thank us when they saw us distributing the kits. They said many parents asked for chocolates or toys because their children were getting bored after being stuck in the centres," said the mother of two.
