PASIR PUTEH, Dec 14 -- The Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) has allocated RM2 million to help 871 members under the Malaysian Family Agro-Products Socio-Economic Transformation Programme involving five districts in Kelantan, this year.
Its chairman, Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor, said the aid was distributed to four categories, namely cattle, goat and sheep breeders (RM1 million), vegetable and fruit growers (RM753,000), poultry farmers (RM187,000) and freshwater fish farming (RM60,000).
"The assistance also benefits farmers in five districts, namely Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh to boost the agricultural industry in Kelantan.
"Farmers from Pasir Puteh district are among the highest recipients involving 271 farmers with an allocation of RM786,000," he said after handing out the assistance in Kampong Alor Pasir, here today.
Commenting further, Kamarudin said the government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) was actively holding various programmes to help farmers so that their living standards could be improved.
"Recently, the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) through the Farmer Family Smart Card (PELADANG -i) has benefited 2,877 members of Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) nationwide,” he added.
