KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 -- Felda Foundation today gained entry into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for its achievement and contribution as the first Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institution to offer dialysis training programme in Malaysia.
The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) in a statement said the recognition reflected Felda Foundation's continuous commitment as the driver of a progressive generation through the provision of quality learning opportunities.
"This dialysis course is offered at the Negeri Sembilan Felda Foundation College and 75 students have successfully obtained certification in the field since its inception in 2019.
"The two-year course for the Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 1 to Level 3 is recognised by the Skills Development Department of the Ministry of Human Resources," read the statement.
It added that the dialysis course was implemented based on the aspiration to provide valuable skills training, especially to the new generation of Felda Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers and youth nationwide, and to increase the group’s marketability among employers.
Through this course, students will gain knowledge on preparation of dialysis treatment on patients, machine operation, keeping records and medical stocks up to the supervisory level.
To ensure the quality of training and skills are fully mastered, each student will undergo industrial training at dialysis treatment centres and other related industries.
Currently there are about 479 private dialysis centres that are able to accommodate Felda Foundation College’s skilled manpower.
Felda Foundation has also formulated a strategy to increase its intake to three classes for each cohort to bring the total number of students to 225 and this is expected to be implemented in Kelana Jaya, Selangor.
