20/10/2021 12:00 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20  -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is holding a virtual Export Acceleration Mission (EAM) to Germany for Malaysian companies in the machinery and equipment (M&E) sector from Oct 18-22, 2021.

The EAM is organised in collaboration with the German Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME).

Its main objective is to showcase Malaysia’s M&E industry’s capabilities to German companies to enable them to identify networking opportunities with Malaysian suppliers.

“The mission’s programmes comprise a webinar on market opportunities in Germany, followed with a business pitching session by Malaysian companies and a series of pre-arranged virtual business meetings (eBizMatch),” MATRADE said in a statement.

The agency said due to the pandemic, the event is held in a virtual format, witnessing 18 participating Malaysian companies from various M&E segments, comprising mechanical engineering, metal, casting, plastic, and welded constructions.

Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is currently leading a Trade and Investment Mission to Europe, said the Malaysian delegation held a meeting with BME in Frankfurt on Oct 13.

He said BME expressed its commitment to work closely with MATRADE in fostering business linkages for its members to source from Malaysia as a producer of quality machinery parts, components and solutions to German companies to support their industrial engineering, product design and technology development, as well as business operations across the globe.

“Germany is the world’s leading supplier of machinery, with industry’s annual turnover of 220 billion euros which serves as an important export market for Malaysian M&E manufacturers,” he said.

Meanwhile, MATRADE chief executive officer Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said MATRADE sees this collaboration with BME as timely, with its enabling roles to provide a seamless sourcing experience for companies to move forward during this challenging period.

The virtual EAM features prominent Malaysian M&E players such as Tonasco, Swift Bridge Technologies, UWC Industrial, SP Teams, and Newbillion Precision Metal. German participating companies in the event include Maschinenfabrik Gerd Mosca, SULO Deutschland and Siegenia Group.

In 2020, Germany remains Malaysia’s largest trading partner within the European Union region, while Malaysia maintains its position as the largest trading partner among ASEAN countries for Germany in the same year.
