High discipline of players key factor in Terengganu's victory - Nafuzi

KUALA NERUS, Sept 30 -- The high discipline shown by the players from the beginning to the end of the match was the key factor for Terengganu FC's victory over Selangor FC last night, said Terengganu coach Nafuzi Zain.

He said Selangor were not an easy team to beat, but the success of his men in following the game plan bore fruit.

“I congratulate the players for showing the best performance and following what we planned from the beginning to the end of the game.

"We admit that Selangor also had the same chance of winning and managed give our defence a hard time in the final moments of the game, but Alhamdulillah (thanks to Allah) the pressure was absorbed well by the players," he told the post-match press conference after the second Group B match of the Malaysia Cup at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Terengganu beat Selangor 2-1 with the goals scored by Dechi Marcel and Lee Tuck in the 22nd and 51st minutes while The Red Giants goal was netted by Mohamad Ashmawi Md Yakin in the 75th minute.

The victory put Terengganu as the leader in Group B with six points while Selangor are in second place with three points.

Nafuzi added that his strategy of beefing up the midfield also turned out to be a plus point for The Turtles.

Meanwhile, Red Giants coach Karsten Neitzel admitted that he was a little upset because they failed to collect any points despite many opportunities to score.

However, he refused to blame his men one hundred per cent saying they gave their best as well put up a good fight against The Turtles.
