KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 – There’s good news for fully vaccinated moviegoers as two of Malaysia’s biggest cinema operators -- Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas -- have announced their reopening dates following closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Using Instagram, GSC announced today that 17 theatres and Aurum Cinemas in the Klang Valley, Northern and Southern regions will reopen on Sept 16, which is Malaysia Day.
It added that more will reopen on Sept 23.
In a statement today, TGV Cinemas sales and marketing general manager, Mohit Bhargava, announced that its theatres will start reopening on Sept 23.
“Our primary focus is the safety and security of our staff and guests, and ensuring we comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP).
“TGV is taking every precautionary measure and will not rush into reopening,” he said.
Movies to look forward to from this month include Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson, Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne Johnson and No Time To Die starring Daniel Craig.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, announced recently that cinemas in states under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) could reopen for the fully vaccinated from Sept 9 and at 50% capacity.
