Bernama introduces three-in-one mobile app

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18  -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today introduced its three-in-one mobile news application (app), to facilitate the public in getting updates on what's happening in the country and abroad.

Bernama chief executive officer Datuk Mokhtar Hussain said the introduction of the app is in line with the 54 -year -old news agency's strategy in embracing the latest innovation and new technologies to make news and information easily available to people anywhere in the world.

"This mobile application will contain news materials obtained by our journalists, including from the agency’s Wires, TV and Radio services, which are not only in the form of text, but also pictorial materials and live streaming through Bernama TV," he said after introducing the app in an online session here today.

The ‘BERNAMA’ mobile app can be downloaded from Google Play Store for android users and ‘BERNAMA News’ app from Apple App Store for iOS users.

Among the app features are live streaming of Bernama Radio and podcasts, live streaming of Bernama TV YouTube and selected video clips, infographics and news segments. 

Mokhtar said the challenge faced by the national news agency is in creating an impact so that more people would use the app to get information, the latest news and follow current developments as well as on Bernama's services and products.

"This is in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era as well as in accordance with Bernama's objectives under the  Bernama Act 1967, which among others is to report truthfully and fairly without prejudice to public and national interests, the views of all sections of the Malaysian population," he said.

Mokhtar hoped that the new application would further improve the agency’s branding as a source of fast, authentic and reliable news.
