IPOH, Aug 7 -- The Pinji Kinta Vax On Wheels COVID-19 vaccination programme, held at the Pasir Pinji Assemblyman (ADUN) Community Centre with the collaboration of the Ipoh Timur Member of Parliament Service Centre, can help to increase the daily vaccination rate in Perak.
Ipoh Timur Member of Parliament Wong Kah Woh said despite him being an opposition leader, the National COVID-19 Immunisation programme that was launched by the government had to be supported in the fight against the virus.
"It is through the vaccination programme we can curb COVID-19, especially with the increase in daily cases now. So, it is good that as a leader, regardless in the government or the opposition, for us to together fight the pandemic,” he told reporters when met after observing the first day implementation of the programme at Jalan Hoover here today.
A bus belonging to the Perak Transit Express had been converted into a mobile vaccination centre for the implementation of the programme which aims to provide vaccination for 12,000 residents in the Pasir Pinji state constituency.
A vaccine recipient, Tang Lai Chan, 34, praised the initiative taken by the relevant parties as it made it easier for the residents there to get their COVID-19 vaccine injection.
"Of course I'm happy because I finally get to receive the vaccine injection. I don't have to wait long and am satisfied with the treatment of the staff here," she said.
Another vaccine recipient Nur Zafirah Yusuf, 21, said the vaccination process there was fast and orderly.
“It was over in not more than half an hour,” she said and hoped that the programme could be expanded to other places for the benefit of residents there.
According to statistics by the COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), a total of 1,538,765 people have registered for the vaccination under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme in Perak, with 868,635 of them having received the vaccine as of yesterday.
