Perak FC II coach fuming after home defeat by Kelantan United

IPOH, July 29  -- Perak FC II coach Syamsul Mohd Saad has described his team’s 4-0 Premier League home defeat to Kelantan United at the Perak Stadium yesterday as “unacceptable”.

He said the three goals Kelantan United scored in the first half were all due to his players’ individual mistakes and the team’s failure to thwart their opponent’s attack led by Gambian import Alfusainey Gassama.

“We were undone by crosses from both wings and our defenders were not aware of the movement of the opposition players.

“My players also seemed to lack focus and kept losing possession. So, this is something I have to discuss with them,” he told reporters.

In the match yesterday, Kelantan got their goals through Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim (ninth minute), Alfusainey  (19th, 22nd) and Mohamad Qayyum Marjoni Sabil (47th).

Kelantan United are now fifth in the 11-team Premier League standings with 19 points from 13 matches while Perak FC II are 10th with 10 points from 12 matches.  

Syamsul hoped that his players would learn from their mistakes and quickly rectify them, otherwise they can forget about featuring in the top-tier Super League with Perak FC.

“The players must remember that this is the development squad which paves the way for them to play for the senior team (Perak FC). If they continue to show such an attitude or make these mistakes, it will be difficult for them to move up in their career,” he said. 

Meanwhile, Kelantan United coach Nazrulerwan Makmor attributed their big win over the young Perak outfit to their experience.

However, the former national defender was quick to add that his men still had a few things to work on before their away match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) II on Aug 1.

“We will work on rectifying our weaknesses and hopefully get a positive result against JDT II,” he said.
