IPOH, July 28 - Perak FC have confirmed that two import players from Brazil, Leandro Dos Santos and Raianderson da Costa Morais have left the team through contract termination letters sent to the club's management two days ago.
Perak FC head coach Chong Yee Fatt said that although it came as a bit of a surprise, he had expected it after both of them refused to play in the match against Terengganu citing injuries.
"In the three or four days before this, I had heard rumours that they wanted to leave the team. But I didn't bother because they were still training with the other players.
"Suddenly when we wanted to go to Terengganu, they said they didn't want to play because they were injured and after we returned, the management told me that both of them had sent contract termination letters," he told a press conference at the Perak Stadium, here. late last night.
Before this, rumours about the two players leaving the team were rife on several official social media sites of supporters of The Bos Gaurus squad as the duo did not play when Perak were beaten 0-5 by Terengganu in their Super League match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak on July 24.
Leandro, 35, who is the pillar in defence, had been with The Bos Gaurus since 2017 while striker Rainderson, 26, or better known as Careca, joined the team in 2019.
The coach said that the absence of the two players was a blow as their services were highly valued to ensure that The Bos Gaurus could record better results.
"It is really stressful ... with us just above the relegation zone. With this happening, coupled with some local players who still cannot play, our situation has become more complicated, ”he said.
Yee Fatt said, however, he would not give up and hoped that his charges would continue to focus and show high commitment in ensuring that their mission to remain in the Super League is successfully realised.
"There is still time, there are still a few more matches. I hope the players keep their commitment. If we can keep up, I am confident our mission to stay (in the Super League) will be successful, ”he said.
In the Super League 2021 action at the Perak Stadium last night, Perak FC and Kuala Lumpur City FC shared one point each after both teams were tied without any goals.
