Che' Puan Besar Khaleeda appointed UTM Pro-Chancellor

JOHOR BAHRU, July 13 -- The consort of the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Che’ Puan Besar Khaleeda Bustamam, has been appointed the new Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), effective July 12 until July 11, 2024.

In a statement today, UTM said the proclamation ceremony for Che' Puan Besar Khaleeda is scheduled to take place on Oct 23 in conjunction with the 64th UTM convocation ceremony.

"UTM congratulates and wishes to express its gratitude to Che' Puan Besar Khaleeda on her appointment as Pro-Chancellor of UTM.

"With this appointment, UTM is confident that she will be able to contribute towards realising UTM's mission to be a leader in human capital development and innovative technology for the enrichment of the country's treasures as well as continue to serve the community in line with the 'UTM Mensejahterakan Kehidupan' (Prospering Life) initiative," said the statement.

Che' Puan Besar Khaleeda, who was born on July 16, 1993, has been active in various humanitarian activities besides being the Royal Patron of the Johor Netball Association and the Johor Badminton Association.

She received her early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Gombak, Selangor from 2001 to 2003, then attended St. George’s School at Hanover Square, London (2003 to 2004) before enrolling at Westminster Academy, London (2004 to 2008) and studied at Sri Utama School, Kuala Lumpur (2010).

She married Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Serene on Oct 24, 2014. The royal couple is blessed with two princes and two princesses.
