Nazim continues podium momentum in EuroFormula Open

KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 -- Malaysian racer Nazim Azman has continued his fine run at the EuroFormula Open series by securing another two podium finishes at Hungaroring Circuit in Hungary.

In the three races held, the CryptoTower Racing Team racer did not get a perfect start when he only managed to secure sixth place in the first race.

However, the 20-year-old bounced back to place second in Race 2, clocking 28 minutes and 52.083 seconds, 2.646s behind Casper Stevenson of the Great Britain, while Cem Bolukbasi of Turkey finished third in 28:57.947s.

In the last race, Nazim captured third place after crossing the line in 36:38.549s, behind the United States’ Cameron Das (36:31.077s) and Mexican Rafael Villagomez (36:37.904s).

With three races held in each round, Nazim has now secured six podiums – three second-place and three third-place finishes in the four rounds held so far.

“I am really happy with my performances this weekend. I had no prior knowledge of the Hungaroring Circuit, which is very technical in nature, so went into the weekend with no expectations.

“My team and I worked methodically to get to the pace enabling us to challenge at the front. Race 3 was particularly challenging with rain hitting the circuit only 10 minutes before the start. My team gave me a fantastic car leading to another podium finish.

“My aim is to continue this momentum as we enter the second half of the season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my sponsors for their continued support and belief,” he said in a response shared with the media.

After 12 races, Nazim now lies third in the championship with 159 points as Cameron leads with 203 points, followed by Great Britain’s Louis Foster with 184 points.

The remaining four rounds in the series will be held in Imola (Italy), Red Bull Ring (Austria), Monza (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain).
