BELURAN, June 19 -- People in Beluran, the only district in Sabah categorised as COVID-19 green zone with no active cases, have been reminded to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set at vaccination centres to prevent the spread of COVID-19 transmission.
District police chief Supt Kasim Muda said the people are being reminded to strictly follow the SOPs as the authorities feared the number of people expected to turn up to get their COVID-19 jabs could trigger the outbreak, adding the people’s cooperation was important to maintain the green zone status.
“I recommend that health workers and other staff involved in the vaccination process monitor compliance with the SOPs among vaccine recipients at the centres. We do not want the vaccination centres to be the cause of COVID-19 outbreak in Beluran,” he told reporters here today.
Meanwhile, Beluran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said 7,944 individuals in the constituency had received their COVID-19 vaccination at Beluran Town multipurpose hall, Kampung Kobambangan Paitan hall and Sabah Forestry Institute hall, Telupid.
Ronald, who is also Agriculture and Food Industries Minister urged the public to continue to register for the COVID-19 vaccination as taking the vaccine is an important measure to protect themselves, their families and the community against the deadly virus.
"The government has implemented various measures to facilitate the public to get vaccinated, especially those in rural areas, villages and interiors,” he said.
Earlier, Ronald presented a contribution of essential items under the MAFI (Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries) Prihatin initiative to Beluran’s front line workers and volunteers at the Beluran Area Farmers Organisation office.
