Kpah Sherman, Uche Agba win PFAM best player awards for April

KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 -- Two foreign strikers, Kpah Sherman, who plays for Kedah Darul Aman (DA) FC and Uche Agba of Sarawak United FC, have been chosen to receive the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) - asiana.my Player of the Month Award for the month of April 2021 for the Super League and Premier League respectively.

Kpah received the highest number of votes, with 40.01 per cent (15,730 votes) beating four other contenders, Mohamad Hakimi Abdullah of Terengganu FC (29.83 per cent - 11,460 votes), Bergson Da Silva of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) (13.98 per cent- 5,389 votes), Ifedayo Olusegun of Selangor FC (11.82 per cent - 4,537 votes) and Casagrande Anselmo Arruda Da Silva of Penang FC (3.43 per cent - 1,316 votes).

This is Kpah’s first time receiving an award, having previously been nominated for Best Premier League player of May 2018 when he played for MISC-MIFA.

Delighted with the honour bestowed upon him, he said the award would not have happened without the support of his friends, officials and supporters at Kedah DA FC.

"Thank you PFAM for nominating me and also my family and Kedah DA FC supporters who translated your support into votes. This award is dedicated to all of you, without your support this would never have happened,” he said in a statement released by PFAM today.

Meanwhile, Uche Agba received the highest votes, at 55.37 per cent (14,609 votes), to emerge as the Best Premier League player, overcoming Jordan Mintah from Terengganu FC II (30.03 per cent - 7,922 votes), Zaquan Adha from Negeri Sembilan FC (10.26 per cent - 2,708 votes), Fernando Rodriguez from JDT II (2.73 per cent - 720 votes) and George Attram from Selangor FC II (1.61 per cent - 452 votes).

Uche shared that he dedicated the honour to his mother who just died this April.

"Thank you PFAM for organising this award and not forgetting the fans who voted for me. This win would not have realised without the undivided support from my family, teammates, coaches and officials. May God bless you all,” he said.

For the record, this is Uche’s second win after emerging as the July 2019 Best Premier League player with PDRM FA.

The winners will receive a trophy from asiana.my, a cash prize of RM1,500 (for the Super League) and RM500 (for the Premier League) as well as protein drinks sponsored by OPI.

The award is in its sixth year after starting in 2015, with 47 recipients and over 370,000 votes have been received thus far.
