PPIK urges public to stop listening to unqualified ‘health experts'

KOTA BHARU, June 4  -- There is no point in the government releasing a large allocation to purchase COVID-19 vaccines if the people are still reluctant to take advantage of it despite the daily spike in new cases and deaths, according to the Kelantan Muslim Consumers Association (PPIK).

Its president, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Fared Abdul Ghani, said the people should think rationally and urged certain groups to stop giving a wrong picture about the vaccination exercise.

Mohd Fared said some people were inclined to believe in inaccurate information on vaccines and were influenced by the comments of many unqualified ‘health experts' on the adverse effects, thus causing concern among the community.

“People need to look at it from a positive angle, rather than continue to equate vaccine effect with death.

“Similarly, the 10th Special Muzakarah of the Fatwa Committee, on Dec 3, decided that the use of COVID-19 vaccine (among Muslims) is permissible and compulsory for groups that have been identified by the government,” he said to Bernama today.

Therefore, Mohd Fared said the people should stop paying attention to anti-vaccine groups that preach against vaccination.

“Think about it, no government in this world wants bad things to happen to the people by getting vaccinated.

“The government has conducted various studies on the safety of the vaccine before administering them,” he said.
