KUALA NERUS, May 5 -- Terengganu FC (TFC) Head Coach Nafuzi Zain's strategy to get early goals in the Super League game against UiTM FC last night worked well after his squad managed to score two goals in the first nine minutes of the match.
"We always plan to get early goals, even in previous matches...Alhamdulillah, tonight we succeeded (in scoring an early goal),” he told reporters after the Super League match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak, here.
The match saw TFC going 2-0 up after just 10 minutes through David da Silva (8th minute) and Muhammad Faisal Abdul (10th minute) before Rahmat Makasuf wrapped up the proceedings with the third goal in the 77th minute.
Nafuzi said the victory has also somewhat alleviated his squad's frustration from last week’s 4-1 capitulation at the hands of Penang FC, last Saturday.
Meanwhile, UiTM FC coach Frank Bernhardt attributed his team's poor performance to the weak defensive line.
“In the second half of the game we got chances to score but we missed it,” he said.
On his fate as the head coach of UiTM FC that are currently bottom of the Premier League table, the German national said he would leave it to the team management to decide on the matter.
