PUTRAJAYA, May 3 -- The Malaysian Islamic Development Department’s (Jakim) Organisation Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2021-2025 launched today has adopted the principles of Maqasid Syariah in the formulation of its anti-corruption initiatives and action plan to improve governance and integrity of the agency.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said the principles of Dharuriyyah Maqasid Syariah which protect life, religion, intellect, lineage and property were well translated in all the initiatives and action plan.
He said as the leading agency in the management of Islamic affairs in Malaysia, Jakim should always be on the frontliners in setting a good example, upholding trust, transparency and integrity in all matters and actions.
”To ensure the effectiveness of governance in an organisation, the principles of values and elements of integrity such as transparency, accountability and other noble values must be adhered to and practised at all times by all parties in the system or organisation,” he said when launching the plan here.
Meanwhile, Jakim director-general Datuk Abdul Aziz Jusoh said the Jakim OACP 2021-2025 is the department’s commitment to upholding the government’s aspiration and desire to make Malaysia a country known for its integrity, not for corruption.
The five-year plan focuses mainly on efforts in terms of improving governance, integrity and anti-corruption, he added.
