FAM disciplinary hearing: Terengganu FC official, manager pay the price

30/04/2021 08:42 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 -- Terengganu FC (TFC) have been fined RM20,000 for their team officials’ inappropriate behaviour towards match officials during a Super League match against Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu in March.

They are said to have violated Article 54 (b) of the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Code after being found guilty of threatening and harassing the match officials during and after the match until police had to intervene.

"The Terengganu FC officials have also been given a stern warning and a heavier sentence will be meted out if they repeat the offence. This decision can be appealed,” said FAM Disciplinary Committee deputy chairman Datuk Che Mokhtar Che Ali in a statement today.

At the same time, TFC team manager Zul Fadli Rozi and team official Mohd Shukri Che Zakaria were each fined RM10,000 and RM5,000 respectively for violating Article 59 of the same code, which is for non-sportsmanship behaviour in the same match.

Zul Fadli also received a four-match suspension while Mohd Shukri was suspended for two matches, starting with tomorrow's Super League clash against Penang FC.

Meanwhile, Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC player Mohd Fadzrul Danel Mohd Nizam was handed a four-match suspension, including one automatic suspension, and fined RM10,000 for being shown the red card during the Super League match against TFC on April 9.

Mohd Fadzrul, who has sat out the clash against Perak FC, violated Article 51.1 (a) of the same code after being found guilty of violent conduct by pushing a match official during the game at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar.

At the same time, KDA FC defender Rodney Celvin Akwensivie was suspended for two matches, including one automatic suspension against Perak FC, after being flashed the red card against TFC on April 9.

Rodney is said to have violated Article 50.1 (d) of the code, which is misconduct against an opponent or individual other than the match officials during the match.

The FAM Disciplinary Committee also confirmed that the case involving Rodney could not be appealed, while the other four cases could be appealed.
