TFC were lucky to score lone goal against KL City FC - Nafuzi

KUALA NERUS, April 17 -- Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Nafuzi Zain considered that luck on his team's side when they won the home match against Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC in the Super League 2021 last night.

Admitting that the visitors were tough opponents, Nafuzi said that fact that The City Boys had missed a number of goal opportunities, had saved the Turtles’ position which started the match rather slowly.

“KL City FC are not easy opponents, their defence is very solid and very dangerous when attacking. Hence, for me in the first half we were lucky because the opposing team missed the opportunity, including, when they almost scored but the ball only grazed the goal post,” he told reporters after the Super League 2021 match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium here last night.

The match also saw midfielder Makan Konate emerged as the hero to score a lone goal in the 88th minute, giving his side three full points and put TFC in second place of the league.

Meanwhile, KL City FC head coach, Bojan Hodak remained proud of the action displayed by his squad despite having to return empty-handed.

The Croatian coach also viewed last night's match as his team’s best game thus far since the start of the 2021 season as the players did more attacks and created scoring opportunities especially in the first half.

“This is probably our best game of this year. We create much more chances than them (TFC). We look much better now compared with the beginning of the season. However, in football we played for goal and we had chances but we didn’t score. That is why they (TFC) won,” he said.
