SHAH ALAM, March 6 -- The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (MAIS) has distributed RM545,5000 worth of aid from its fidyah fund to 5,455 families affected by the COVID-19 and the implementation of the Movement Control Order.
MAIS secretary Dr Ahmad Shahir Makhtar said the distribution of the aid was implemented with the cooperation from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf Sdn Bhd (TERAS), Islamic non-government organisations as well as mosques and surau in the areas involved.
“Each family received the aid in the form of essential items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour and milk,’’ he said in a statement, here, today.
Fidyah is a redemption fee paid by a Muslim for each day the person missed his obligation to fast. Those in Selangor can make their payment at www.mais.gov.my or via http://fpx.mais.gov.my/epay/fidyah.php.
