KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 -- Although this year’s festive season has so far looked slightly different due to the second nationwide Movement Control Order put in place, shoppers can still enjoy a Chinese New Year atmosphere and shop for items safely at Sunway Pyramid.

Sunway Pyramid general manager, Jason Chin in a statement today said now, with the conditions of the MCO being relaxed, the mall welcomed shoppers to experience the celebratory cheer of Chinese New Year with the various activities and initiatives put in place.

“The celebration this year, albeit a slightly quieter one, has given us time to reflect on what is important and on what matters. At Sunway Pyramid, we want to provide our shoppers the opportunity to experience some Chinese New Year cheer and at the same time, share our blessings with those who need it most.

“While we are still in the midst of uncertain times, all of us at Sunway Pyramid will continue with efforts to make it a safe, secure place for those who choose us as their preferred lifestyle destination,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chin said in the spirit of celebration and togetherness this ‘Niu’ year, Sunway Pyramid was doing its part in helping the B40 communities’ wishes come true.

From Feb 26 to March 7, the mall will be collecting donations from the public to help needy families with daily necessities, particularly those who have had their incomes and livelihoods impacted by the MCO.

In collaboration with Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng, Sunway Pyramid is targeting to collect and donate RM20,000 to the B40 communities.

The beneficiaries include single mothers who will each receive a voucher worth RM50 to be spent on essential items according to their needs.

In conjunction with Chap Goh Mei, which marks the end of the Chinese New Year festivities, shoppers who make a donation at the wishing well from Feb 26 to 28 will be given a mandarin orange.
