IPOH, Feb 22 -- Perak FC today confirmed that it has ended the contract of Mehmed Durakovic as chief coach of Perak FC following a week-long negotiation.
Perak FC board member Khairul Shahril Mohamed said the ending of the contract was at the request of Mehmed himself who informed that he wanted to return to Australia to settle some family businesses.
‘’The negotiations took a week and we respect Mehmed’s decision. It was a difficult and heavy decision for us to make and surely it is a major loss to the team,’’ he said in a statement today.
He said the management had identified several suitable names to replace him as Perak chief coach and on Mehmed’s advice, it has picked former Kuala Lumpur coach, Chong Yee Fatt as his successor.
Yee Fatt was a former Perak player in the early and mid-80s, and had held the position of assistant chief coach for the 2011 to 2013 seasons and also in 2017 when the team was coached by Karl-Heinz Weigang.
In the meantime, Khairul Shahril said Perak FC also agreed to appoint Rizal Naizali as chief executive officer effective February 10 and he would also double up as team manager this season.
Meanwhile, he said the management would finalise the selection of a new logo for Perak FC after submitting it to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah tomorrow morning.
