Go KL Bus service expanded with latest chocolate line

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16-- Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in collaboration with Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd has further expanded the Go KL Bus service by opening the ninth route known as the Chocolate Line to connect public housing areas with several strategic locations.

Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa in a statement said the free bus service involved a 14-kilometre route starting from Section 10 Wangsa Maju, Desa Rejang People’s Housing Project (PPR), Taman Tasik Sri Rampai, heading to the Sri Rampai LRT transit station and the surrounding areas.

Apart from that, according to him, the chocolate route which involves Setapak Jaya 1A Public Housing will also connect centres of public focus such as Medan Selera D’Rejang, Masjid Abu Ubaidah and shopping malls such as AEON BIG and Wangsa Walk.

“With the frequency of buses every 15 minutes, the service is expected to benefit city dwellers to get to the LRT station and to the workplace, especially the B40 group,” he said.

Meanwhile, Annuar said the number of passengers on the GO KL Bus service last year declined following the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said in 2020, the number of passengers recorded was at 9.7 million people with an average of 27,000 passengers per day compared to 2019 when it was 19.7 million people with an average of 55,000 passengers a day.

Earlier, the launch of the new Go KL Bus Line was done live online through DBKL’s official Facebook platform.
