LABUAN, Jan 23 -- Labuan has received 500 units of collapsible tents (C-Tent) from the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) for use by victims of future natural disasters here.
The C-Tents were channelled to Labuan following NADMA’s meeting with the disaster management committee of Sabah and Labuan Zones in August last year.
Labuan Corporation chief executive officer Dr Fary Akmal Osman said the collapsible tents would provide evacuees with a comfortable place to stay.
“The collapsible tents finally arrived here on Friday. We believe the delay was due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.
“We must be thankful to NADMA for their attention and assistance to Labuan as this will surely lessen the local authorities' burden in facing possible disasters,” she told Bernama today.
NADMA has so far contributed face masks, hand sanitisers, personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, suits and isolation gowns as well as thermometers to Labuan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
