GEORGE TOWN, Jan 21 -- Police have completed the investigation papers on the case of seven men arrested for obstructing the police from discharging their duties following an accident involving a motorcycle ridden by two men at a traffic light intersection in Tanjung Tokong, here, on Sunday.
Northeast district police chief, ACP Soffian Santong said police had also handed in the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action.
"Seven men, aged 20 to 45, whose remand order was supposed to end today had their remand extended for two more days until Jan 23," he said when contacted today.
He said the case was investigated under Sections 353 and 506 of the Penal Code as well as Regulation 16 of The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) (Movement Control) Regulations 2021.
Last Tuesday, two men riding a motorcycle which that was involved in an accident at a traffic light intersection on Sunday admitted that a police motorcycle patrol unit personnel chasing them did not kick their motorcycle in the incident.
