KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 -- UiTM FC’s new striker Khairul Izuan Rosli is determined to help his new team succeed in the 2021 Malaysian League competition scheduled to begin on Feb 26.
The 29-year-old said the opportunity to play with the university team was the best platform for him to return to his best form, after failing to shine with several other teams.
Khairul Izuan once helped Kelantan win the 'treble' of the Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup in 2012, but later struggled to make an impact with several other teams, including Negeri Sembilan (2017-2018), Terengganu FC (2019) and Kelantan United last season.
"I am grateful to be able to play for UiTM FC this season, and I can say that this team was one of the best performers for 2020, so it will definitely be a challenging season for me, what’s more, the fact that I’m competing in the Super League," he said in a statement issued by the Malaysian Football League today.
Apart from Khairul Izuan, UiTM FC has also recruited several other local players including Khairul Asyraf Sahizah and Mohd Alif Najmi from Perak II, Mohd Khairul Rizam Che Soh (Kelantan), Dirga Surdi and Muhammad Farid Nezal (PDRM FC), Muhammad Hardee Shamsuri (Pahang) and Mohd Fauzi Latiff (Negeri Sembilan).
UiTM FC ranked sixth out of 12 teams in their debut Super League season last year with 17 points from 11 matches (five wins, two draws and four defeats).
