Happy Chinese 'Niu' Year from Sunway Pyramid  

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 -- Sunway Pyramid is charging into 2021 with a Chinese ‘Niu’ Year celebration offering shoppers a lot of rewards and activities.

Sunway Pyramid general manager, Jason Chin, said it is aimed at getting people to begin the Year of the Ox (or ‘niu’ in Chinese) on a bold and positive note, and encouraging them to rise up stronger after a rough past year.

“2020 has indeed been a year of challenge and change, and we want to move forward and wish all Malaysians a most prosperous and blessed Chinese New Year.

“May we look ahead to a year of greater blessings, triumphs and prosperity,” he said in a statement Thursday.

From Jan 1 to Feb 28, mall visitors will be entitled to prosperous rewards, as well as a wish at the ‘Oxpicious Wishing Well’, when they donate RM5 or RM10 to charity.

Chin said the donations will be used for Lunar New Year essentials and groceries for 200 needy families.  

He said it will be channelled with the help of the Subang Jaya assemblyman’s community service centre and Zone 2 municipal members.

“During this celebration, shoppers can explore the bold and auspicious gold ancient towns housed at the lower ground 2 (LG2) Orange Concourse.

“Tangerine trees and glowing red lanterns brighten up the atmosphere, while a golden ox statue at the front of the concourse welcomes shoppers to the cheery town,” he said, while adding that there will be lion dances every weekend, too.

Chin said that Sunway Pyramid is committed to keeping everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and regularly disinfects the mall as per the Ministry of Health guidelines.
