ALOR GAJAH, Dec 29 -- The Pulau Sebang bus terminal in Section 1, Bandar Pulau Sebang, here, being built at a cost of RM4 million including its support infrastructure, is expected to be ready by the middle of next year.

State Housing, Local Government and Environment Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Abdul Ghafar Atan said the bus terminal, now 80 per cent completed, involved an area of 0.6 hectare.

He said the project which was approved for privatisation in 2014 should be completed within 36 months but was delayed due to some issues including workers.

"The Pulau Sebang bus terminal is to replace the old one located nearby and the project is implemented through the exchange of land between Yenzoo (M) Sdn Bhd and the Melaka state government.

"This private company is building the bus terminal including the support infrastructure such as sales stalls, eateries, bus ticket counters, bus and taxi parking lots, and surau while the old bus terminal site will be handed over to Yenzoo," he told reporters after making a working visit to the new terminal today.

He said the new bus terminal was expected to reduce congestion in Pulau Sebang town and Tampin, Negeri Sembilan, especially during the festive seasons and long holidays.

He added that the new terminal would also complete the transport network system in Pulau Sebang due to its proximity to the town’s railway station.

Meanwhile, Abdul Ghafar said the Melaka State Digital Committee had been formed to coordinate the various information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives in tandem with the technological and digital developments taking place.

He said that one of the initiatives being focused on by the committee was ensuring that each development project would be equipped with ICT facilities.
