ALOR SETAR, Dec 17 -- The changes to the winning logo of Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC announced yesterday were made to suit the image of Kedah football,” said KDA FC chief executive officer Khamal Idris Ali.
He said KDA FC as the owner of the logo has the right to amend the winner's logo and the matter was stated by Kedah Football Association (KFA) in the terms and conditions of the logo designing competition.
"KDA FC takes note of the polemic which occurred after the announcement yesterday. The logo designing competition organised by KFA was well-received as there were hundreds of entries from football fans in Kedah.
"But, it should be understood that the results of the selection committee as well as the online vote made by KFA is a reference for KDA FC in determining the team logo," he said in a statement here today.
Khamal Idris said in this regard, KDA FC has decided to amend the logo of the competition winner after making certain assessment.
"However, in appreciation of the creativity and effort of the selected logo designer, KDA FC is of the view that the winner should be given a prize as determined by the competition sponsor.
"In the meantime, the logo designer who has been selected as the official logo will also receive a gift from KDA FC," he said.
Meanwhile, he also stressed that an audio recording linking the names of several individuals involved in the selection of KDA FC logo which was disseminated yesterday, was slanderous.
"The recording is a slander to create prejudice against certain individuals. Here, KDA FC would like to thank Kedah football fans for their concern, contribution and support," he said.
Since yesterday, social media sites have been filled with dissatisfied comments by Kedah football supporters as the three original logos selected (top 3) were not announced as winners, instead an unlisted logo was chosen as the official logo of KDA FC.
